These tools are NOT needed for the workshop

Power tools

Variable speed drill with chuck (impact drills won’t work with the jiffy mixer.  Corded is nice for mixing mud because you can blow through batteries.  Variable speed makes sure you can use it to drive screws too if you don’t also have an impact driver)

Phillips head drivers #2

Spiral Mixer

Hand tools

1” blade

3” blade

5” blade

8” blade

10” blade (I prefer the cleaper blades because they are more flexible, less stiff, and thus work better for feathering edges. Make sure to check that the blades are straight/not damaged)

fork or something to scratch

Hawk or mud pan (I hate mud pans but some people like them. If you get a mud pan splurge for the metal, the plastic ones are hard to clean)

Knife and blades (I like milwautkee brand because they open easy but they cost a bit more.

Metal snips

Jab Saw

Tape measure

Hammer (it doesn’t matter what kind as long as it has a flat or waffle head and some kind of claw. If you use one a lot I love these but they are $$$$; invest in one if you do a lot of hammering to save your elbows!)

Prybar and Prybar both are good to have.

Note

The tools above are cost effective drills and hammers.  They will break sooner than other brands but are a lower buy in for trying out. I use Milwaukee brand because they used to be great but now they are on par with Dewalt. You can also buy things at Harbor Freight but they break sooner too.  If I plan on doing something a lot I will invest in a better quality tool because in the long run it saves money. The above tools in March of 2022 will run approximately $200.
